There are some pictures that I would like to remove from the File Upload Manager but I can't figure out how to do that. Plus, it says "Uploads not utilized within one hour will be deleted" but my files are still there 3 days after I uploaded them.

When you move your mouse over the picture in the File Upload manager, you will see cross in the right corner. Clicking on it will delete the file.
I my case, when I place the mouse over the picture it's a question mark that appears in the upper right corner.
Maybe I should point out that those pictures are not used in any of my posts.
If you are using IE 10 as a browser that will be the case... Use chrome or firefox and you will be able to delete them.
Well in our situation, all works fine except, the ones not uploaded remain in the "awaiting to be uploaded" box.
Although it should be deleted automatically(after 24 hours), but it remains there up until now(months have passed)

Drag and drop the files you wish to delete into the empty "attachments" area at the bottom, then you will be able to delete in the same way that has been described above.
Does not work, i drop them to empty section, i get the option of deleting them and then it just NOT delete's it(using chrome now)
Also tried with Firefox and iexplorer still doesnt work
I hope you don't mind, I wanted to resurrect this thread because the issue never seems to have been resolved. I have had the same problem as the original poster...I can't delete previously uploaded files from my "Manage Attachments" window. There seems to be no way to permanently remove my previous uploads from my "home" file. I've tried on multiple different browsers with the same lack of success. I too get only the questionmark buin the main window, and the "X" button in the attachments window doesn't seem to delete anything, even though it brings up a dialogue box asking if I want to delete the content. Any way to fix this? Thanks! Thor

Yes, when I use the "Settings" and "Attachments" links, I can delete attachments that are currently uploaded to a thread or to an album, but my older uploads that I'd already deleted from a thread or album are still available in the attachments manager window [the "home" folder] even though they were publicly deleted months and months earlier. I'm just confused as to why they don't disappear from that window [other versions of vbulletin that I've used/encountered before do delete them permanently].

I know what you mean, but this is usually down to another plugin, or mod we are using, I just have to find out whats causing the issue, the weird thing is that others are saying it works for them, saying that on win8 and ie 10 its not working properly for me at the mo.

I don't know if it helps at all, but for comparison's sake I'm running mac os x 10.6.8 and usually use Firefox 25.0.1 but have the same problem with Chrome. Thanks again. Thor
macs are always a problem, they have got better but from a development point of view its always been hard to gain full compatibillity

just to update those who maybe following this.
we run scheduled tasks hourly and daily for maintaining the site, now it seems that one is not doing what its supposed to, im still trying to get to the bottom of it, so ill post here when I have it resolved.

ok I think we have resolved the issue now, I have tested it and it works for me, both via the attachment manager and also the settings - miscellaneous - attachments.
please let me know if this has resolved your issue.

i still cannot delete my own files from my attachment manager.. but someone else seems to have deleted all but two of my files. this is upsetting as i had private material in my attachment manager and the thought of someone else accessing it makes me uncomfortable.. :(
I can assure you no one would access your material, however, if I am reading what you are saying correctly, the attachment manager should only be used as a tool to upload material to the forum and not to archive your personal material.Quote:

hi dude, the system is now working as it should, it was the system that deleted your files, in the upload manager it says unused files will be deleted automatically after one hour.
this was the part of the scheduled tasks that was not working.
so please do not worry about our security, nobody has access to your attachments apart from the admins and the system, admins would only removes files that break our rules.

Yep! Definitely seems to be working correctly now. I still can't figure out how to delete files from within the manage attachments window (no X delete option appears over the icons in the main window) but I can delete them from the Settings>Attachments link and the non-utilized uploads now are automatically deleted as it says in the manage attachments window. I can't delete files from the "settings"->"attachments" nor the manage attachments window... weird... help anyone?
I can only remove them from a post, but some posts I cannot edit.. so no way to remove them....?
If you hover over the thumbnail a little box will appear. Tick it and delete it.
It will not vanish immediately, it is done as a cron job by the server.

the question mark tells me what thread the picture is posted in.... if I go to that post, I can't edit the post to remove the picture to allow the chron job to remove unused picture. I assure you the above does not work.
I think that free members here are unable to edit their posts. Hence you cannot delete pics.
If there are pics you want removing, let me know and I will do it for you.
Does deleting files in the attachment manager also delete them from the threads they are in?
