Default HOT tip for all those that download with HJSplit.. meet HJ-Join

This may be a repeat but too good to miss...

(skip this paragraph if you want to get staight to the good tip )

This could be a bit of a personal thing but i hate joining files with HJSplit, if like me you download these files many as a time you end up with multiples of files that all need joining before you can use them, thus you end up opening hjsplit and spending countless clicks on "input file" then "ok" then "join" then "ok again, and round and round again.. anyways i have found a solution called HJ-Join..

HJ-Join is a one file mass joiner, you just copy the file in and run it. It will then join all the split files (001,002, etc..) on ALL the files it can find, leaving the rest alone, and all with one double click..it looks a little boring but works like a charm..

You can get it from the HJSplit site (http://www.freebyte.com/hjsplit/) near the bottom..unzip and copy the join32.exe (join16.exe for you win 3.11 users) file to your folder and run.. simple....

very nice tip I use it as well, just keep it in your download folder and when you're done run the .exe and wait a bit and all your files will be ready to enjoy!

Another tip, unless you're on an old operating system pre 2000 or xp (not sure who still would be!) be sure to use join32 not join16 as it won't name them right.

There's also 7zip, a rather excellent (FREE) archiver program which will join files together if you tell it to 'Extract' the 001 file

Am I missing something here. The biggest problem I have is renaming all the files one at a time. My HJ Split joins them all with one click but only after I've spent time renaming them. I'd like a program that renames them all with one click. (PS I'm running XP Prof.) Help if I am offbase here.

You mean when they're saved out in the first place?

I just rename them as the requester pops up to .002 etc.

goboy windows tries to automatically save .001,.002 etc files with mpg added, in the "save as" window make sure you are saving as "all files" then you won't have to rename them.

Thanks Simo, but the only options for a D/L when I right click the file is "save target as" (which titles the file exactly as the upload is titled and must be renamed in order to join) or "open in new window" which tries to d/l and play the file immediately rather than saving it. What can I do to eliminate the last 4 or 5 digits from the title. Even if I try to do it before the d/l begins, it's the same process for each file so it takes the same amont of time. Any help is truly appreciated. BTW: I have XP Professional 64 bit.

What browser do you use, Firefox or Internet Explorer..? i have both installed firefox goes a bit weird if i say "save link as" as it will try to save the files as "attachment.php" though "open link to new tab" will start the download fine, i mean with the correct filename... IE (Internet Explorer) works doing the "save location/link as" (or vice versa i can't remember).. if your using firefox i'd strongly advise using "DownloadThemAll" anyways....

I'm using Netscape for porn due to some inhouse security concerns. I think the box that opens up for downloads is somewhat different than on IE. But as long as I have to use what I'm using, I'll just tough it out unless someone has a solution. Thx.
