Default Video splitting / editing Mac?

    Hi

I am using a Mac now with OS X Leopard everything is great but I really miss VirtualDub (nanDub or VirtualDubMod).

And I wonder does it not exist any software that can split Xvid or DivX fast losslessly and accurately for Mac??

I have searched and read allot but haven't found anything that's does the Job well. Yes QuickTime Pro for some bit, but if anyone has some great tips on how to get it fast with QuickTime Pro (no re rendering) please let me know.

    Does anyone have a clue?

ok i found the best one
    MPEG StreamClip

the interface is a bit weired, but not that bad.

To work vid xvid you have to ad the xvid quicktime component to the library. And to work with wmv you have to have Flip4Mac pro.

MP4 files works extremely well. MPEG StreamClip is the best editor for MPEG files I've ever used.

There are other nice video editors for mac, but when it comes to none destructive/direct stream editing MPEG StreamClip handles it the best.

I just found this software today; it's a great program. And it's free!

I agree, the interface is not quite straight forward but after reading the user guide, it's very simple to use. I've been editing some videos in the wmv format with my Mac. The best output I found was a MP4 format. I think the quality has been lowered due to compression but it's still visually appealing.

Heres one more Mac user with a question. Been trying out Mpeg streamclip and it works great but i want to be bale to edit .avi-files and i cant. Ive installed the xvid quicktime component but it doesnt work. Actually .avi-files dont play on quicktime either. So my question is just as much how to make them play properly in qt, since im pretty sure thatll solve the other problem too.

Does anyone know what to do?

    Hello, fellow Mac users,

I need help with MPEG Streamclip because I have several problems I can't solve myself, due to my lack of knowledge regarding the arcane world of codecs!

    Problem 1:
I have a long vid, let's say a porn sequence. It's usually in .AVI format. I only want to have the ending cumshot in order to have a smaller clip to post.

I choose the "in" and "out" points to select the sequence I want. Then I trimm them on the Edit menu. Finally, when I save the trimmed file clicking on "Save file as", it appears a "Compressor Error" message. It only appears with AVI files, not with .MOV. What's wrong?

    Problem 2:

Since I can't trim & save, I have decided to export the section in .avi. But Idon't know which codec do I have to use.

If I use the default one (Apple Photo- JPG), it converts me the file but the result is always a larger file. (For example, I have a 100Mb, 10 minutes long clip. I select 2 minutes, I export to .AVI, and the result is a 2 minutes long clip of, let's say, 150 Mb).

Which codec do I need to choose in order to cut the clip and obtain a smaller one, but with more or less the same screen size and quality?

Sorry for being so annoying, I hope you can understand my bad English.

    Lechero,

I know next to nothing about mac. I have a pc. I do know that "format factory" is available for a mac. I use it on my pc to change any file type and you can also trim with it.

The software is free so you might try to google it and give it a try.
