Non-friends can view private albums in profies...

I notice that the Edit Album dialogue has two choices for Album Type: Public or Private - Only visible to contacts and moderators. No mention of Friends.

Could it be that the member able to see kcage's "private" album is not a friend, but is a contact?

A friendship is a mutual, two-way relationship between two users. It is initiated by one user and accepted by the other.

A contact is a one-way friendship. This could be where the other person does not accept the friendship, a friendship request is pending, or you do not wish to be friends at this time but want to show them as a contact only.

There is no mention of Friends.

I guess that means that Contacts can see private Albums. Even though a mutual, two-way relationship between two users has not been established.

Is that how it's supposed to work?

well it was weird...must have just been a glitch....but it did happen...he was even able to send me one of the pics in the chatroom.

my album was set to private. Maybe I should delete my profile and create a new one.

As wicked said, there are two kinds of "social link" on FF: Contacts and Friends.

I'm not sure exactly what defines a Contact, but a Friend can only be a Friend by mutual agreement.

According to the Edit Album dialogue there are two choices for Album Type: Public or Private - Only visible to contacts and moderators. No mention of Friends, but I suppose they qualify as Contacts as well.

Is he a Contact of yours? If so, that would seem to explain his ability to see your Album.

If he's neither a Friend nor a Contact then it's a mystery.
