    Here it is:

    Best Video Player with codecs:
    VLC (VideoLAN)

Best software for joining and extracting:
BetterZip - it can also join splitted files

How to install software on Mac - search for that on Youtube!

On a Mac (I'm a Mac user as well) use "Split and Concat" to join split files of any type. Excellent freeware (you can donate if you wish).

    Default watching vids on MAC

if you have several files like

    blasted.001.mpg
    blasted.002.mpg
    blasted.003.mpg

remove the .mpg that will turn them into far files then unpack them

I second that! Macs have a tendency to add the .mpg extension to anything you download that they interpret as a video file. You might find, for example, a file named "awesomefacial.avi" that you just downloaded is now in your download folder as "awesomefacial.avi.mpg." Try removing the .mpg, then use the files as you would normally (join them with Split and Concat, play them with VLC, whatever). Unfortunately, you have to do this by hand, one at a time (or, at least I think you do. I haven't found a way to do it in batches yet. If anyone knows of a way, feel free to let us know!). I almost never use my Quicktime player, but seem to have no problems playing the videos with the VLC player.

    Good luck!
