    Default Question

Any one else following the news of the lawsuits in the US by exgirlfriends having their pictures posted online without their permission? They want to hold the website liable and the people who download them too.

This seems to be a slippery road because, 1) how do you know what those pictures are. A lot of the amat material is made to look amat so it is hard to tell.

    2) At the same time, I would not want to post something if the people in the pictures do not wish to have the material online, but once online it is practically impossible to take back, and how do you know if they mind?

Basically the only people that are going to get sued are the ones that fall under that jurisdiction and can be traced.

Any thoughts on this would be appreciated.

If you are talking about that lawsuit in Texas they are going after the site and the members who post the content, not the members who download it. But that situation is very different from posting random amateur content. First, the site is another one of those explicit revenge themed sites actively asking members to get even with their ex's by posting their private content without their permission. That makes the site an accomplice in the action. Secondly, the posters are posting private pics and specific information about the women. For example, their names, where they live, etc. So it makes it easier to prove the identity of the poster and their motives. Even with all of that it may be difficult to actually win a settlement. Intent is tricky even with all that evidence.

Still, it is reprehensible. Morally and legally that is why we actively discourage and remove "ex" type postings and do not allow specific info to be openly posted as well. Anything that looks remotely like a revenge themed post is NOT tolerated here. Same reason why we prefer posters of original content to gain verification. We want to know the women posted here know of it and approve of it.

Anyone interested in the legal case in Texas can read more about it here:

This is why we have rules in place concerning this very issue.
We do not allow any facebook type photos or set ups that look like normal snap shots, nor do we allow any background material such as children or any documents that may show identities.

Obviously intentionally naked shots or women having sex or facials are fair game as they obviously are well aware of their actions while these pictures are being, so it follows that they should realise that said photos will very likely end up appearing on the net.

We are not mind readers in so far as we can tell what photos may have been for private use only but and this is a BIG but if we suspect that pix of these kind have been posted in here as a revenge type and therefore the woman in question has no idea that they are being spread on this forum, then they will be removed immediately and the poster infracted for it.

So I suppose my only words of advice here would be, if you are ever in any doubt about any pix you intend posting in here, then I would say don't post them.

Thank you for the replies, Moderators. It really helps to have the rules and monitoring FF has, otherwise a lot of members (like me) would drop out.
