Good one Al, very nice step by step tutorial too. I have been using dvd shrink for a few years now and it is an excellent tool. When I first got it I was ripping dvd's just to do it, even if I already owned the original. It's nice to have backups though.

    Question dumb question

Thanks for all this alkie, a good guide for the novice dvd ripper here.

This will presumably work with dvd's made with a dvd recorder at home from sky+ too?

Having never tried ripping other types of recorded DVD's before, I can't guarantee that it will work but I don't see any reason why it wouldn't

When you browse the files contained on the DVD when you have it in your pc, what kind of files are they?

.vob, that's same as a normal dvd isn't it, so looks like it should work.

I'll give it a try sometime, thanks again.

    Default My thanks

The helpful Bobby Coke told me about the rippers, but I think BC thought I had a brain and could understand bit rates, and all the other technical stuff. I tried by failed miserably. However this piece of software plus the excellent tutorial has meant even this UK bozo can finally start editing a lot of older DVDs and edit them and get them on the forum. Many, many thanks.

Insert your DVD, wait for it to load (if you have your drive set to autorun close your player down when the disc starts playing) and then
