HJ Split

I've been using HJ Split for some time with good results. Lately, I have been getting error messages saying that the format is wrong. I also noticed that when I attempt to "Join" a file the pop up window no longer shows the contents of the folder I use to store the various chunks. I removed the program, cleaned my registry and re loaded a fresh copy of HJ Split. Same problem.
Any suggestions?

Do you have Windows set to hide the extensions of file types? You've probably accidentally opened one and chosen media player or something. Check your Folder Options (Tools -> Folder Options -> View tab -> untick "Hide file extension for known types" -> click OK), then check your .00x files end in .00x and not 'mpg' or something.
