If you google 'dogging definition', you will
find several references to tracking and pursuit,
often with hounds. That is where the expression
'dogging his footsteps' comes from. I've never
heard of your definition. Don't believe what you
read in Wikipedia! Anyone can edit entries on
it, and they are more often than not wrong.
