Old and New members alike, please read

I have noticed a trend of people posting 5 or 10 quick posts in a row to enable certain functions of the forum. This is not in the spirit of what the forum is about and is simply selfish and very obvious.

It bumps threads that otherwise wouldn't have been bumped and usually consists of 5 posts exclaiming "Great Pics"

Very lame and I don't want to see it any more.

If you do this I will begin handing out warnings and infractions, so please don't post replies to get something out of it, post them with well thought out replies because it's deserved.

I have noticed many such posts, and it always irritates - because I wind up looking a a "new" post that is a total waste of time. One other thing I see is some folks posting three or more in the same thread - mere seconds apart. Yoicks!! :eek:

Yes, very irritating and just something people do to get what they want. We are all watching out for it and chances are the people who do it won't even read this, but the warning is there.

niteowl52us, if/when you see this again you can give us a heads up by clicking on the http://www.facialforum.net/images/buttons/report.gif button under the person's user name/avatar. You could also send us a PM with the post location. This is how you and other users can help us out from time to time:) We try and catch what we can, but obviously we can't catch them all.

First we, the paying customers, are berated for enjoying the posts but not commenting. Now we get ripped because an English major grades our composition to be poor. I'm not trying to be an a**hole, but I struggle to find a balance that would satisfy everyone. We cannot all write a thesis praising each post. We're trying to acknowledge the good ones without spending all day. (After all, we want time to view the pics and vids.) Is it now better to play it safe and ignore? :confused:

You are totally missing the point here. I cannot stress that enough. Here is an example I saw just today.

A member posts 5 bullshit "great pics" in a row...5:51 5:52 5:53 5:54 5:55 and you know where they were after that??? In someone's album looking at pics which you can only do after 5 posts. If you can't see the connection there I don't know what to tell you.

The 5 posts were made in succession with the main purpose of trying to view an album. I know you have disagreed with staff in the past on some things and that is fine.......in this case you don't have a leg to stand on.

Try and understand what it is I'm talking about here before making it seem like it's a case of mods just blowing steam......it's not.

Well I don't think I'll win any awards for rapid-fire posting to get some other feature enabled....but I do like the pics on this forum for what it's worth :D

First off, thanks for contributing goboy :)

Second, I know Shape is mainly referring to very new members who are trying to get past the 5-post limit they have to make in order to enable certain viewing functions on the forum. The rule is in place to encourage valid participation, not create short substance-free posts.

It's great you acknowledge posts you enjoy! Definitely keep doing that. The original posters appreciate comments. However, "me too" posts have always been the bane of the internet. Saying a bit more than "thank you" would be good...add a comment specific to the post you're referring to. Like, the girl is pretty, nice load, is she a natural blonde, where was that taken, etc.

As someone above pointed out, threads being bumped are great, but often we see them thinking perhaps there are new pics posted in them, or at least some worthwhile comment...only to find it's two words, often from someone trying to make a quota. All we're saying is, put 10 seconds of thought into a post instead of 2 seconds.

This was not directed at you or any member that keeps their replies to a short "thanks" only to members who post the required 5 posts in a span of 5 minutes to activate the album features.

It's also not just "new" members, I have seen many instances lately of people who have been here for over 2 years suddenly doing this and it's only too obvious.

The funny thing to me is that after these initial 5 posts are made, there are no more, and back to lurking. It's just using a loophole and that's no good.

Of course you and your contributions here are very much appreciated:)

look at the last 7 posts in the May Competition thread same stuff there. would locking the past comp threads be a good idea?

No I don't think it would matter. People can post pretty much anywhere in the free section so it wouldn't really deter anything.

It's a shame how some people treat the forum like just another place to grab stuff. It's so much more rewarding when you make friends here and get to know some people.

Simply put: Warnings and infractions are the only thing that MIGHT work. I have been running Facial-related communities in general for years and this is something that, although it annoys every single -active- member, will always be the norm.

Regardless, as you said, Shape - It is indeed infinitely more rewarding when you get to know the fine people behind the uploads.

Being someone who would probably fit the profile of the quick poster, I can understand why there is some frustration. A lot of people come to this forum to share their love of facials and by just sending 5 repetitive posts that do not have any thought placed into them. Many of the posters have put a great deal of time and effort into their work and the posting of their work. That said, this may be a new site for many people and although they may make a few quick replies, that may not mean that they're trying to take away from the community. Again, I can understand how that's perceived, but at the same time, a community is built by people contributing. Aren't the people who post a few quick lines contributing too? And also, i'm having a hard time trying to put together an album of some of the facial pics that I have. It seems i don't have sufficient privileges. I'd like to put in my share of facials, some of the beautiful women that i've seen receiving facials, not to mention my own experiences. It's been a little difficult thus far.

I'm basically asking if there is some sort of timeline that new person must wait before he/she can get to the 5 posts and start being an active member of the community.

This site is literally everything that i've been looking for. You have pics of beautiful women (professional and amateur) with great amounts of sperm on their faces. This turns me on to no end. But I want to make sure that I can participate in this community too and if I cannot fully comment on posts or construct albums, how can this be done?

I can see the idea of weeding out people who may just be looking for a quick way to get off, but what about guys like me who genuinely, GENUINELY love looking at them, giving them (if i'm lucky enough), talking about them and sharing media with them in it?

Ultimately, I love what you guys do here. I'm glad that this forum is here.

Agreed. But I cannot say I'm guilty of doing the same. If you going to post a thank you or a compliment, at least be very productive with your responses.

That pretty much says it all. I've been lurking here for years. Reading this has finally opened me up to the idea of interacting with like minded people. (It's so refreshing to know there are many of you out there!) I don't know if I'll ever convince my wife to agree to post new content, but at least this is a step in the right direction. Actually I can sympathize with both sides on this. Yes, it's annoying when you read a thread that's been bumped, only to find a one or two word post. However, I can also understand people's desire to get access to as much as possible in as short a time as possible. It's really just human nature to be just a little bit greedy.

Also, I'm sure that those who either start or contribute to threads on a regular basis are happy to get the acknowledgement for their efforts, no matter how long or short it might be. To be honest, when my thread received only a couple of responses, I'd have been grateful for a few of these posts, just to show that someone had bothered to look. (Thanks to those who did respond BTW, it was much appreciated).

Perhaps the best thing is to watch how they act after those first few posts. If they continue to post, if only to say thanks, then at least they are contributing in a small way. It's those who stop posting after those first few that need to be given a little nudge.

I've only been reading the forum a few days, and noted your concerns about "quick posters". As someone with, well, this is just my second post, so perhaps I don't have much to say yet, but I had a thought.

It occurs to me that other forums get around this problem by instituting a Thanks button, and banning short Thank You posts altogether. That way, only posts of substance are allowed, and all us folks who want to say Thanks but wouldn't want to be seen as Quick Posters can express our gratitude. Not sure if this forum software allows that - I'm so non-web savvy I still don't know which end of the internet to speak into - so I'm just tossing the idea out there. Shoot it down by all means!

Maybe I don't get the sense of this "5-posts" hurdle...
Someone can post 5 "great pics" in 5 diffrent threads and no one would notice...
Of course I get the point that it is quite rude whren some one registers and posts 5 times bullshit in the same thread, but you can't really prevent this when you want to have this 5 posts hurdle.
I know it sucks when you log in and you see for example the Pixel-Thread at the top - but then there is just a new "great pics" comment and no new pics....but I'm also sure you don't want the people to stop giving compliments - whether they are short or not
I think the 5 posts hurdle is sensless if you don't use it to delete accounts who start here with avoiding rules like in your 5:51, 5:52, 5:53 ... example

The thought occurred to me to make a five hasty posts on my husband's site. Since we have been contributing for about a year now, but under his title, I sort of thought it would be acceptable. Somehow I resisted the temptation. I have only just made my own profile for this site. I have been lurking around on the forum looking for things that I believe are worthy of response, and I just can't wait to hit that five post mark so I am able to view others' albums. Ooo, as I type this post, I realize that after posting this I am only one post away from the magic number. Can't wait to see all the albums with the cum-drenched girls and throbbing cocks that are waiting for me on the other side of that number.

Yeah, Nyxia was a little frustrated that she had to wait to get up to the 5-10 mark before being able to friend people and reply to PMs, but we both totally understand the need.

Admin could probably change the requirement to a time period. But the five post setting is meant to reward members who actually get involved. A time period would do nothing to stop people from just lurking. Every forum has a lurker problem and most try to reward and stimulate people to stop it. That is what we are trying to do too. This is a forum after all. If people don't get involved forums die. So, even if you can't upload and share content, you can still make valid posts and encourage other members who do upload and share, which helps everyone.

Does minimal caracters requirement could be a problem?
I mean "perfect ass" and "??? i love yours curves, i think is just perfect. Hope to see more! thanks for the sharing" mean the same thing but dont sound the same.

Im new to the forums. Ive just been introduced to it by a girl who i have had some recent interaction with. Little did i know that pics of her face when i was done with it would wind up online. i love it, and im looking forward to contributing more pics for you all to see. Im new so i have not gotten into the full swing of the site yet, not sure of all of the rules or how PM works or any other limits such as how many pics a new user in the free section can post. Ive looked at quite a few pics and loved all that i have seen so far and i have noticed that some members are a bit more active than others. If any one out there feels like offering some advice, feel free to send me a message. hope this qualifies as more than a bs post to get by whatever limit there is. lol

I found this forum while searching for forum features that I wanted. At first, it looked promising. Then I delved into it, hoping this site was going to be a site I would stay subscribed to. Unfortunately, this isn't going to be one of them. Too restrictive, not enough features, difficult to navigate unless you want to pay for a membership, and limited scope of content. Thanks for the opportunity, but I think I'll look elsewhere. :sad:

Every forum built under Vbulletin (which is almost all of them) are going to be similar to Facialforum in terms of features and navigation, so good luck in your search! As for 'limited in scope', I don't quite get what you mean... you were looking for something other that facials on a forum called facialforum?!
