I think the simple reason is that pro porn is what it is - fake. As hot as some of the girls might be and as impressive as big loads like Peter North's are, it's still a woman doing it because she is getting paid.
Amateur porn is so great because it's real. It's a turn on to know there are girls in the world that will do what we love (facials ;)) because they either naturally like it or care about us enough to do it.

What I dont get is what makes a particular photo "amateur", best as I can tell its bad photography...almost every photo in this thread is from a paysite (usually an old one)

I like both amateur and pro. There is a lot of good things to be found in both. Plus, there is a lot of gray area between amateurs and pros. Not all of it can be separated just on the basis of one gets paid and the others don't. Some women do just one, or a few, paid porn sessions mainly because they want to be able to brag about it or just to experience it. So you can't really call them pros in the same way you would a pro filming her 100th scene.
Anyway, thanks for the pics.
Yes of course you can't seperate it in every case - for example sky from AF (or all the other models from AF) or the cohf-Stuff (whether you like it or not) they all get paid but in some way the models still look natural - they look like girls you could meet in your neighbourhoodQuote:
