thumbnails display different photos than the opened file

Anyone have any experience with this? I have many pics that when viewed as a thumbnail on my computer screen show a completely different image than when the file is opened in picture viewer or even just scrolled thru as a 'filmstrip' view. Included are some example pics that do this as well as a screen shot to see what I mean (the pic opened will of course be highlighted in blue below).

yeah, it's a caching issue, i think if you go to View >> Refresh it should fix itself (at least it does when mine does that) but it may be something else...
