How do I find out if a pic belongs to an FF member?

Hi,

I was just browsing through some pics I have archived, which have come from various other places on the net, (as it happens I was going to post some in the my Favorite jerk-off pics thread) and I came across a particular pic I've had for a while. I don't know where it came from but it's long been a fave of mine - and lo-and-behold the girl in the pic has a piece of paper lying next to her which I can just see has 'I heart FF.net' written on it...

So my question is: how do I find out whether a pic from some random place on the internet belongs to a member? Obviously, I'd like to contribute, but I don't want to find myself accidentally posting material that belongs to members, etc.

Not only that but I'd love to know who this girl is, she's gorgeous!!!

Pretty cool of you to want to try and not post members stuff. I have the same concerns so I try not to post anyone that looks familiar but even at that I am not always able to be 100% accurate. Mods are good at catching them and removing them with a comment of what was removed and who it belonged to, also anything with a FF watermark is a dead give away.

And Calum, you will only get into trouble if you continue to post pictures from FF members pulled from your prior posting (and do it several times) - so please start posting.

Calum, thanks for the concern. This is a tricky one. The staff and Admin have discussed this back and forth over the years. The easiest way would be to post a list of member pics as a reference so people could check it. But there are problems with that. Based on past attempts few people would actually check it before posting their random finds. The larger problem is that many of the member pics we disallow come from members who chose to stop posting. Often because they found their pics being reposted elsewhere. Those members pulled their pics and do not want them posted anywhere. So if we posted a few of their pics as a reference guide we would in fact be posting their pics against their will. So we are caught in a catch-22 paradox. This leaves our members in a bit of a quandary when they post a lot of random amateur pics. The staff does understand that. So typically we just remove member pics when we find them. If we feel it is warranted we might leave a public notice or PM the poster with the pic name and member identity so they know not to post it again. But we do not punish members for quite understandably posting some unknown FF member's pics. As Btdoug pointed out an FF watermark or FF sign is a dead giveaway and should never be posted.
