Default Can't Download .AVI files anymore?!?

Can somebody help me here. All of a sudden, everytime I try and download an .avi file, I get the message (once its finished downloading the file) "file.avi could not be saved because you cannot change the contents of that folder."

I'm not doing anything different than I've ever done - and don't know what the hell this means. Can anybody help me out?

    Questions:
    • Are avi files the only kind of files, you have problems with?
    • Where do you try to save the file?
    • Do you run Windows? What version and service pack??
    • Do you use antivirus, firewall, and maybe anti- ad-/spy-/mal-ware?

    Default Thanks for responding

Yes - .avi are the only files I have a problem with. Mpg and wmv are no problem. I save them to the desktop and yes I use windows XP home edition 5.1.

In regards to your last question, nothing's been installed in terms of firewall or other, that I haven't had since before this problem suddenly occurred.

    Hmmmm.....

Have you tried to save the avi files in another folder?

Do you have problems downloading avi-files from other sites?

Im aware that this is a very late answer but in case someone else has the same problem it might be helpful for them...

Ive experienced the exact same problem when downloading to the "My documents" folder in Windows Xp. Its an odd way of fixing it but for me, all i ave to do is to change the attributes, in the preferences of that particular folder. Making the folder secure and then unsecure concerning writing to it.

Im not sure what this is called in english, so it might not be as helpful as i wouldve hoped. Its called "write protection" if you translate it directly from swedish anyway.

When the flame turns to ashes, legends will be forgotten...
