    Default Signature image size

I'd love to use a bigger signature image, but I follow the rules as stated in the Edit Signature dialogue (<= 500x100, 19.5kB).

Yet I've just seen a signature which is 790x527, 220kB.

    It's at http: //pornpicer.com/files/5pl2cl6va160ooqt085i.jpg

I want one like that too.

Either the rule has been changed without changing the rule text, or the server software is not very clever. Which is it?

I wouldn't think the rule on this would have been changed.

That is just way too big to ever be used as a sig file. Image the same guy making multiple posts in the same thread?? It would just take up so much room on the page and get annoying.

I even think that a 500X100 graphic is too large for a signature. After all, the sig file was originally meant as just that, a signature, and not to display a graphic that doesn't have information on it.

I use my sig space to promote my website and Blog, but just keep it in text form so it's not obtrusive and doesn't get annoying

    These are the sizes

Signature Image Maximum Width 500 (pixels)

Signature Image Maximum Height 100 (pixels)

Signature Image Maximum Filesize 20000 (bytes)

I agree with Carol, just be sensible about it

NOTE: Please don't penalise me for this illegal signature image. It's just meant to be a demonstration of what not to do. The software should catch it automatically in any case. I'll remove it myself after a reasonable time.

I think I know how those outsize signature images are built -- just IMG tags in the signature text. The board software must be pretty simple-minded. You can put as many image links as you like in a signature, any size you like. So much for the rules.

    [I've removed my sample images.]

The IMG tags are external things, outside of what the system uses for image attachments. That can't be controlled, other than disabling it all. That is standard for almost all message forum software, like vBulletin (which is used here), PhpBB, YaBB, etc.

I think not, Carol. Anything is possible, given the right skills. I have them.

It's commonplace for boards to stop certain tags in certain contexts. Routine. If vBulletin can't handle that, then it's time to ditch vBulletin, or at least enhance it.
