    The easiest and fastest videoconverter I've ever seen is Format Factory. It's great and fast for format conversion (lot of formats supported) and has several templates for portable devices (e.g. palm phones, ipods, etc.).
    It's not good to edit clips, but if you only need the format conversion it's the best choice, I think.
    Last but not least is freeware

    I have used all the ones already mentioned, some give better results than others but for quickly batch converting files to just about any other format plus giving you some options for changing frame sizes, bit rate and etc.
    I have found a good little free app called Any Video Converter
