joining files on a Mac

Hi guys,

I just switched over to a mac from a pc and i'm not sure how to join hjsplit files now. I also am not sure how to join files that are split into parts but not .001 type files.

Can anyone help me out?

Get you hands on the programme MacHacha. It does a gorgeous job of joinking those pesky .001 files...... Simple and free.

Use Catenator, a simple applescript. You can put it on your desktop and just drag and drop all .001,.002 etc files on it.

I use MacHacha.

Make sure 001 file ends with .001 and not mpg or avi. Use Get info to change file name if needed. Rename 002, 003 files if necessary. Double-click on the 001 file and voila, files will automatically be joined.

This doesn't work for me. ? It fixes .001 but does not work on the following .002, .003. Anybody know what I might be doing wrong?

ok, now why is it that every time I download a new file on my Mac it saves it as wmv.001.mpg? How do I get it to not add the mpg at the end? I seem to have to go to each file and rename it without that.

Yeah -weird. That started for me, on Safari, when I moved to Snow Leopard (previously - no problems). My advice is to use Firefox for your downloads, then there should be no problem. Hope it works!

Another program you can try is called "The Unarchiver". It is also free of charge.

I can combine .001 files as well as .rar files.

HJ-Split themselfs recomend Split&Concat for Mac.

But BetterZip does it as well and faster

Yeah the adding of .00x is annoying. But if you use a quality donwloader as JDowloader you don't have to think about it
JD can even auto join and trash the files.
