HD video exporting from Adobe Premiere CS5

Hi all,

I have edited a video down to 04:14 minutes of HD footage. I would like to keep it HD, so I exported from Adobe Premiere CS5 as an .mp4 and it came in at over 800 mb, which would be over 20 attachments once HJ split.

Is there a good way to keep file size down in the export settings, without comprising quality too much?

Ok very simply put... The size is almost irrelevent ie 1080p 720p etc etc... The main factor that influences video size is bitrate. Full HD will be between 10000 and 15000 kbps.

You need to experiment between lowering the bitrate and resultant loss of quality.

I feel that outputting using the H264 codec as MP4 with a bitrate of 2000kbps will give you sufficient quality for full screen viewing this will result in an approximate filesize of 90mb

Anyway you need to play with the bitrate and see what suits you.

Thank you so much for the advice Simon! I got it down to a much more manageable size without much noticeable loss of quality by adjusting the target Variable Bitrate down like you suggested
