I wouldn't say they've given up, but I would say they have a tendency to get ahead of themselves. I disliked Win 8/8.1 until I used it on a touch based system, if you've never used 8.1 on a touch based interface, once you do you kind of have one of those "oh that's what you were trying to do" moments. I love it on my surface pro but I'll stick to 7/Linux for a desktop environment. Although I am building an HTPC with 8.1 for the simple ease of integration and the built in drive pooling, with the Gloryholeprincess being as cock hungry as she is I literally have no time for building raid setups or being hassled with SysAdmin type stuff lol
