That is very sweet Tabbi. Our friends out here have been so helpful and caring. Two of them have wanted us to move in for years so now they are insisting. lol One of my friend's kids who is three asked "I'm sorry about your house. Are you going to come live with us now?" I had to really concentrate not tear up.

Our house was a small solar house with water catchment. We built it ourselves and we can build it again very cheaply. I think it cost us $20k twelve years ago. Lumber and materials are actually cheaper now because the war made things expensive then. It is sweet of you to suggest a fund but it is not really needed. We both have full time jobs and we can save up again. We might take October off and have a house raising party with all of our friends. They have all wanted to learn how to build a small house anyway.

Piper! So sorry to hear; my heart goes out to you both. Wishing you all the best in your recovery; hoping this New Beginning turns into something even richer, stronger and (dare I say) kinkier than you've imagined thus far!

Thanks SimpleLife. I don't know whether I would call it a new beginning. My man keeps pointing out that we spend a lot of time on the road anyway. We just won't have a home base for a while.

There is actually no insurance. We lived off the grid with solar power and water catchment from the roofs. The insurance company where we live wants one to have a well, electricity from the grid, a fire hydrant within a mile (one was 28 miles away) and a fire department within 5 miles (also 28 miles away). lol Plus we don't really care about the house. It was beautiful but it was the cool quirky stuff that can't be insured that we miss.

We are going out there again tomorrow. My art studio airstream disintegrated in a rather fascinating way. I want my man to cut off a four foot piece for wall art. It will be the second cool quirky piece we salvage from the land. I will post a pic of it tomorrow.
