Yup. It's infuriating. And it's been a problem for quite a while. Not sure there's a solution.
But before you go running to Chrome, Brave or Edge just remember that the underlying engine (Chromium) has access to your search history and, recent update, your CPU usage so that they can fingerprint you more effectively and spot you. Google and all its lovely free products are close to spyware.
