Reputation

Two questions:

1. What does reputation points do for me?

2. Is there a way to see who has given points? Right now all I can tell is when it happened, what thread it was for and the comments they leave behind. However, it does [not] show who posted the comments or gave me the points.

I have two green-flagged items and one blue (with no comment text), with 30 points indicated. What does it all mean?

Shouldn't there be a sticky thread somewhere explaining such stuff?
