Default Problem with watching Videos [MAC]

    Hello All,

I recently signed up for platinum membership in order to watch those awesome vids you guys are posting here.
The problem is, most of the time I cannot open/watch the vids because "the movies are not in a format that Quick time player understands". Even with "VLC" the files just won't open and stay un-watchable. Besides, what extension is "wmv001.mpg"? Either "wmv" OR ".mpg"....or am I wrong?

Who has an idea about what's causing this problem? Is it because I'm a Mac-User, or am I just do much of an idiot? :-)

    ANY help appreciated!

I have moved your post to a more "correct" position.

The topic is OK, more users/members see your problem and might help.

And sorry I can't help - I don't know nothing regarding MAC (I am a 100 % Windows guy with pros and cons)

This might help, Gusher. Read it over but I think it is because you need to use Firefox.

Post again if this doesn't help.

Hi princess and thanks for the help, but even with "Firefox" the movies are not watchable :-(...I mean most of them, the regular .mwv files I can watch.

Are you trying to watch files that end in a number as shown by the hyperlink used to get them? For instance MILF.wmv.001 or blasted.avi.001 blasted.avi.002 etc? If so you need to download them all into the same folder, then use a program to join them back up. Once that is done you should have a file that is just blasted.avi which contains all the files put back in the proper sequence and readable by video player software.

I do not know what the file joining software is for a Mac but it is documented in the help section of the forum.

Edit: I see in your screenshot you posted that you are trying to play files that have not been joined yet. It also looks like your browser appended an extra extension to the end of the name of the file. At least on Windows HJsplit wants the files to end in 001, 002 etc. there have been some Windows browsers that did a similar appending of a file extension that required manual renaming. I assume you may need to do something similar if a browser like firefox does not leave your downloaded file names alone.

Thanks for your support, but the problem still persists.

I gave up on it and will just watch the vid's that are supported by the video programs I have installed on my HD.

Get VLC. It can play almost any file. Available on most all platforms. Also, free and open source.

*edit. I just read it doesn't work with VLC. No idea, they all should. Have you tried opening VLC first and then opening the file with the program rather than double clicking the file?

You need to get "hjsplit" to join the video files into one file. Just open the app & navigate to the directory you downloaded the files to. The app will automatically find the files that need to be joined. You'll be back to typing with one hand in no time!

If you don't want to give up on joining the videos to watch them. Piper has a great explanation here:

It all comes down to getting the files named right before you try to join them.

    Good luck.
